Description
Pathways to Life is a program specifically designed for people with a disability wishing to improve life skills and literacy and numeracy skills. This program is delivered over three levels, students are welcome to work their way through all three levels as their skills develop;
Mondays:–
21ALNPTLB Beginners –
The program will have a major focus on the use of iPad along with group activities and games to help learners develop Literacy and Numeracy skills at this level.
Topics Include –
- Teamwork
- Planning and organising
- Exploring self confidence
- Communication skills – oral and written
- Reading and writing – simple words/spelling
- Literacy and numeracy activities for iPad
- Personal goals
21ALNPTLPB Post Beginners –
The program is ideal progression form Pathway to Life Beginners, providing learners
Topics Include –
- Teamwork
- Personality quiz – about me
- Project work – Royal Melbourne Zoo
- Exploring directions – following maps
- Communication skills – oral and written
- Planning and organizing – End of term excursion
- Reading and writing – simple words/spelling
- Literacy and numeracy tasks
- Personal goals
Fridays:–
21ALNPTLPI Pre Intermediate–
This is a pre-accredited program based on Life Skills with Literacy and Numeracy skills delivered through practical learning such as cooking. Students will work together in small groups to plan and prepare a range of simple recipes each week. This will involve the shopping for ingredients, selection and purchasing of goods at a local supermarket, along with the preparation and cooking of a range of recipes.
The program will incorporate Literacy and Numeracy skills through the reading of recipes with a focus on the measurement aspect of Numeracy with the preparation and measuring of ingredients.
